I will be the first to admit that I am a bit of a book nerd. My biggest problem is that once I start reading a book it is hard for me to put it down. I don’t like to wait so I want to find out how it will end, and fast!
My current read right now is by Stephenie Meyer, titled The Host. I became a fan of her writing after reading most of the Twilight series, and while waiting for the final book in the series I thought I would pick up this book at a local Wal-mart to read. I have to say that I did not take a particular liking to the book at first, mostly because it was a little confusing as to what was going on and where the story was going; secondly because I had just read three large novels prior and was a little burnt out – and maybe even going a bit crazy from all of the dialect buzzing around in my head. However, I picked it back up a few days ago to give it another chance and I am hooked now.
The thing that I like most about this novel is that it connects you emotionally to the characters and gradually builds that connection until you need to know how the story ends because you generally care about the characters. While there are a few slow scenes that pop up throughout, there is still enough curiosity for what is about to come that it keeps you pushing through the pages.
I cannot elaborate too much on this novel yet since I am only on page 180, but if you get the chance to get to a library or to a bookstore, check this book out!
