New furniture and decorating help

After a long month and a half of waiting, we finally got our new Living Room and Bedroom furniture!

We still have a long way to go as far as decorating goes, but I am really not sure how to go about doing that. Since there is a loft and not a lot of wall space (with all of the windows and doors) I am stumped.

We do have two things up though, a giant clock that rarely keeps time and a picture. Haha.

Matt had been saying for a very long time how he wanted leather furniture. I am not much of a fan of leather since it is cold in the winter, hot in the summer, and slippery! I like to stay put when I am lounging, not scooting myself back in place every ten minutes or so.

However, I caved. I went with the leather furniture. This set isn’t soo bad on the sliding part. It is a little bit chilly when you first sit, but warms up pretty fast.

The ottoman/coffee table has a middle section that flips over to a serving tray – like our ottomans up in the loft. It also has storage on the inside, which is nice since we have a lot of throw blankets with no home when company comes over.

Here are both sides of our Living Room. It is a pretty small sized room, but it works for us. Makes it more cozy. I like cozy.

And see how the ceiling slopes? How do you decorate with that?

Any suggestions are welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ I need help!

  1. your house is so, so, so cute!

in terms of the ceiling slope and your dilemma with decorating… i’d treat the living room and loft as one big room! pick a paint colour for the living room that goes with your new furniture and blue curtains, but that also doesn’t clash with the upstairs loft.

brown and blue go very well together… you could always pick a lighter brown/tan tone which will go with all the black and blue of the living room, as well as the brown from the upstairs loft.

as for the slope in the ceiling, paint it!

i’m a huge fan of painted walls… especially earth tones.
