Hum If You Don’t Know the Words

Today was a lazy day for me. I haven’t been feeling well the last few days, after returning from our camping trip. Instead of spending my time editing and catching up on weddings, I have been reading. A friend and myself started our own two-person book club about 6 months ago. We rotate on who picks out the book, and this time it was my turn. It always takes me a while to decide on a book, and I found our next read at a somewhat local bookstore, about twenty minutes away. Hum If You Don’t Know the Words.

Wow. This book. It’s based around two main characters, both from completely different worlds. One a little girl, and one a mother. Both live in South Africa in the 70’s. While I am only 100+ pages in, this book is so captivating and emotional. So much sadness has taken place in both character’s lives already, it’s truly heartbreaking.

I encourage you to go and pick up this book. I plan on writing a full review after I finish, but we are only reading 10-20 chapters a week so it may be a while yet.
