Other things they have done?

Maggie has ate spatulas, knocked a glass off the counter and shattered it all over, goes through the garbage religiously (even ones with just paper), and eats things off of the counter.

Since Ernie is smaller and can’t get on the counter or in the garbage – but trust me he would if he could – he has done other things. Like eat the bug spray and assisted in eating an entire container of cat treats, including the lid.

Just when you think the house is dog proof, they prove us wrong.

Anyone want two rotten dogs?

Starting off, the update on my laptop.

I will say that I am never buying a Sony Vaio again. I only owned it for a year and a half and guess what? It is dead. DEAD.

Since the hard drive was all screwed up and Windows basically killed itself, I thought I would reformat the hard drive. I saved my files on Wednesday, after I spent $37.00 on a hard drive recovery program, so I really had nothing to lose. Since I had Solaris on me at the time, I was just going to install that first to make sure that the drive still worked before I went out and spent way too much money on Windows 7.

Well it all went through, but upon doing an update to the new operating system, my laptop started making a lot of noise. Almost like the DVD drive was working over time.

Then. Nothing. It turned off and wouldn’t turn back on. The motherboard died.

Insert explicit language here.

So. I had to go out and buy a new computer since I needed it to go into work the next day.

I had enough with Windows and all of its nonsense so I just bought a MacBook Pro.

The only problem now is that Adobe has the worst customer service ever and won’t transfer my license for CS4 over to a mac license because “they no longer have CS4 stocked in their warehouse to make sure they have enough room for CS5.”

Bullshit.

One: I just need the license not a DVD. Two: The box is like half an inch thick, not like it’s the size of a refrigerator.

And Three: I am pretty much sure that they just want me to buy CS5. But I’m not buying it people.

Anywho. New MacBook Pro = Love. Although I do, sad to say, miss a few PC features. Like the delete vs. backspace keys, the home and end key, and the uniqueness of how the program windows look (such as AIM and MSN). And I can’t use my favorite CSS editor now.

Oh well, moving on. Sorry.

End useless rant.

Yesterday we had the weirdest weather ever. It has been raining pretty much every day for the last few weeks and last night was no exception. Except it decided to storm with clearish skies. It was odd.

But look at the pretty rainbow! I did a poor job at capturing its magnificence but you get the idea. It was the best full rainbow I have seen.

A few seconds after I took this lightning shot across the sky. It was crazy.

But today we finally had a beautiful day. And what better way to end this post than by showing you my two crazy dogs.

They are special.

I actually consider it the cats’ bed because they are always on it, as you will see from the photos below.

Since I am very indecisive on most things, I went back and forth between a few sets. I found one I really liked at Target that was on sale, but they didn’t have any in Full size. I even looked online for it and had no luck.

After a few days of pouting, I decided to get the original one I had decided on from Wal-mart. Except, they had an even cuter one. What really made my decision was the cute throw pillows.

Too cute.

Cute little pillow, no?

But I think it brightens up the room very well and the room doesn’t look as small now.

I think Hunter is enjoying it the most.

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head;
he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the
hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:
‘He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 – he’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?’

Knitting.

Maybe it is because I fail epically at following directions. I need step-by-step photo instructions to guarantee that I am doing something correctly.

I bought this “I Taught Myself Knitting” book since I have been wanting to make a new blanket for some time.

I also bought this very soft, and thick yarn.

The book claims to be easy, step-by-step instructions so you will be knitting in minutes.

Ha!

Liars!

Upon looking at the illustrations it seems that it will be easy since it appears to be “step-by-step”.

It took me like ten minutes to make the slip knot, haha. I had to study the first image very closely. I mean, really, how many people make slip knots on a daily basis?

I am no cub scout people.

But what really got me is step 7. “Draw needle and yarn back through loop on thumb.”

Whaaaaa?

Common sense told me that “draw” means to bring it back through…. yeah, well I did this.

One, it did not look like Diagram 6 at any time of the “drawing through” part.

Two, when I did this it just created a big knot of nothingness.

So I tried it another way, and another, and another.

Two hours later and I am going nowhere fast.

Maggie knows when it is time to give up.

She is embarrassed when I show her how far I came (nowhere) in that amount of time.

So I took her advice and went back to crocheting.

Even though I have successfully crocheted in the past… this didn’t go so well either.

So you know what?

I blame the yarn…

But it is too cold for a little dog named Ernie who has no hair.

Too cold to for him to go on a walk and let out some of that energy that threatens to make him explode if he doesn’t do something about it quick.

My 18 year old cat had to be put to sleep. She has been around since she was about 3.

I was just about to tell you all about how we came to keep her, but I decided to save myself the embarrassment and PETA from breaking down my door.

Anyway, she was feeling ill so my Dad took her to the vet. Turns out that her temperature was very low for a cat, which may have been the result of kidney failure. He also found blood in her mouth, which he said was a good chance that her liver was down.

I knew this day was coming soon, but I still was not ready for it.

R.I.P Kitty.

This was her on December 26th, 2009. She loved her wrapping paper.

Don’t get me wrong, he is still cute 14 months later. But man, just take a look at these:

Today is one of those days.

The weather is dark and dreary.

It is almost the weekend.

Everyone just wants to sleep.

I just want to say that I hold no responsibility for what goes on around the house here during the day…

I decided to go out and get all of the appliances to get it over with. Originally we were just going to get one at a time, with the refrigerator being the first. However, I wanted the kitchen to be done so there you have it.

I will post pictures either tomorrow, Thursday or Friday depending on when they are all done being installed and the lighting in the kitchen is the best I like to see you all squirm in your chairs with anticipation.

Just kidding.

I just like to make my sister squirm since she will not come and visit me.
